I have been a volunteer at NCAR for many years now, based in Moggy Mansion (Older cat section). At first I was reluctant as I thought I would end up bringing all the cats home with me!

I was also concerned about the time commitment. However, I soon realised that all the animals there need to be well cared for and loved whilst awaiting their forever homes. The animals are there through no fault of their own (abandoned, cruelty, bereavement etc) and the staff need volunteers to help with the many and varied tasks.

It is a busy day of feeding, cleaning and other routines, followed by cat cuddling, playing, and loving, the day flies by!

Why do I do it? Because it is heartening, rewarding, and joyful. And because my faith and my conscience tell me it is truly the right thing to do. Marea
