The Benefits of Pet Adoption
We’re always looking for new homes for our homeless animals. Here at NCAR, we often have very full kennels and we need to give every animal that comes to the centre, a loving new home.
A second chance
You give a homeless pet a second chance in life and a loving new home
A wider choice
Rescue centres have a wide variety of animals available for adoption
Lower costs
Adopting a pet is often less expensive than purchasing from a breeder
Health benefits
Pets have health benefits like stress reduction and increased physical activity
Often trained
Rescue animals often adapt to a new home as many know basic commands and house manners
NCAR’s Support
Adopting from a rescue provides access to a supportive community of animal lovers.
Finally (and very importantly) your rescue animal will have had medical care, spaying or neutering, and vaccinations ensuring that they are healthy and ready to go to their new homes.
At North Clwyd Animal Rescue, we have a strict adoption policy to ensure each animal finds a safe and loving home that meets their unique needs. Our goal is to see every animal living a happy and healthy life, starting with finding the right home.
Our Adoption Process
WE REVIEW YOUR adoption FORM
After submitting your online form (you’ll reach this once you have selected the animal you want to adopt) we’ll review it for a good match.
We invite you to the rescue centre
If we find a match, we’ll invite you to the rescue to discuss adoption. We will explain everything during your first visit.
Not all enquiries end in adoption
Not all enquiries result in adoption but if that’s the case we’ll work with you to find the perfect match, even if it takes longer.
We reserve your new pet
After choosing a furry friend, we’ll reserve them for you with a deposit.
We do a Home Check
We’ll then carry out a home check to ensure your new pet’s safety. Once this is approved and all steps completed, we will invite you to finalise the adoption of your new pet. It’s a crucial time and we aim to provide you with all the information you need but please feel free to ask us any questions.
And then You take your new pet home!
If all goes well we will finalise the adoption and you will pay the adoption fee (details below).
You’ll then be able to take your new friend home! Remember that if you have any further questions or need any advice once you have your new pet we are always here to help!
If you need any items for your pet, our on-site shop and our online shop offer a wide range of items such as food, beds, toys, and leads at prices slightly lower than other retailers. Any purchase you make from our shop directly supports our charity and the animals we care for. Your support would be highly appreciated.
Our Adoption Fees
We do charge a minimal ‘adoption donation’ for our animals which in most cases does not even cover the veterinary bill relating to that animal.
Dogs (over 1 year old) | £160 |
Puppy (under 1 year old) | £200 |
Pedigree Dog (full paperwork) | £300 |
Cat (over one year old) | £80 |
Kitten (under 1 year old) | £95 |
Rabbit | £50 |
Pair of rabbits | £90 |
Guinea Pig | £20 |
To help explain the cost of adopting an animal remember that all of the animals available for adoption from NCAR have undergone the following treatments:
neutering
All our animals are neutered before leaving our rescue. This prevents the ever increasing number of pet animals who may end up homeless themselves. If, for any reason, this has not happened before the adoption date, then we will provide you with a neutering voucher for this to be done soon after adoption.
vaccinations
All our animals are vaccinated against serious disease. This must be continued annually
Dogs: Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvo virus and Parainfluenza
Cats: Feline Infectious Enteritis and Feline Flu
Rabbits: Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease..
Microchipping
We microchip all our animals before they leave our care to ensure that they are registered if they were to go missing. We now use a company called Avid. They allow us to do a dual register. This means we can register each animal to NCAR and their new owners.
Worms and Fleas
We treat all our animals against fleas and worms using Frontline and Milbemax. These products are available from NCAR or your vets. We highly advise using these recommended products instead of other products you may get from your local pet shop.
Choose the kind of animal you’d like to adopt here
We’re open by appointment only for rehoming. Take a look at our adorable animals and fill out the “Apply to Adopt” form. If we find a perfect match, we’ll be in touch to schedule an appointment with you!
