Adopting Animals

You may still be able to! We accept adoption requests from people who live up to 70 miles away.

This includes the counties below. For some you may need to check your distance to ensure you are within the 70 mile zone..

It costs £95 for a cat (over one year old) and £120 for a kitten (under one year old) All of these funds are used to help run our charity and enable us to help more cats in need of our care You can find out more about cat adoption here

It costs between £200 and £350 to adopt a NCAR dog. This depends of the age and if the dog is a full Pedigree or not. All of these funds are used to help run our charity and enable us to help more dogs in need of our care. Find out more about dog adoption here.

No, we’re afraid that you can’t just arrive and visit the rescue animals at North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR) whenever you like for the reasons listed below:

  1. You can see them by appointment only for rehoming
    If you want to adopt an animal, you must start by selecting the animal on the website, filling in the adoption form, then if there’s a match, we’ll invite you to visit. It’s not a “come and see any time” approach.
  2. Animals get stressed
    Animals can become distressed by lots of people coming into the kennels. To reduce stress, we bring animals out to meet adopters rather than letting adopters go into kennels themselves.
  3. Safety, health & welfare concerns
    Allowing unrestricted access to the kennels could raise risk of disease spread, injuries (to animals or visitors), and disruption of animal routines. Many rescue/adoption centres use these concerns as part of their policy. The welfare of our animals is a priority.
  4. Staff time, capacity & resources
    Handling visitors (especially unscheduled ones) takes staff / volunteer time to supervise, care, clean etc. We have to operate within the constraints of our resources and ensure the care of the animals isn’t compromised.

Sometimes though there are special “open days” where you can visit without adopting and we’ll bring out some of the rescue animals. We’ll advertise those on this website and on our social media. And we’d love to see you at our dog friendly cafe, Doris’s Bunker or our onsite shop.

Yes we do! You will find a selection of online greeting cards here. A great way to dress up a donation for an animal loving friend or relative.

Business

If you are a corporate sponsor, by volunteering or donating, we will publish your company details and a beneficial link to your website. Take a look to check out the entries here.

Cats

Sadly we cannot accept duvets, pillows or cushions for bedding for our animals. Our animals love their comfort, but they also like to create a snow storm during the night, we also cannot wash these items easily and they end up having to be thrown away, which costs the charity money to dispose of them.

We are always in need of bric-a-brac, furniture, toys and good quality clothes. There is probably an NCAR shop near you where you can drop off items – check out the list of charity shops here If you have a bulky item get in touch as we may be able to arrange collection if you can’t deliver the item yourself.

NCAR at Trelogan

Our opening times are: Tuesday – Sunday | 11am – 3pm (Closed on a Monday)

Yes! We have a well stocked shop at our NCAR site at Trelogan. Buy from NCAR and help support our charity! You’ll be amazed at what we have in store—great deals on all sorts of pet essentials. Whether it’s adoption day, a special treat, or a Gotcha Day gift, there’s never a bad reason to spoil your pet! We also sell products online here.

Wild animals

Unfortunately we cannot take in and treat wild animals. However if you visit this page on the British Wildlife Rehabilitation Council website there is a list of helpful organisations that can be searched by area.
