dog walking volunteer opportunities

Walk the dogs

As a registered Volunteer you will be able to visit whenever you can to walk and socialise the dogs at NCAR. We’re in a beautiful area with many walks on our doorstep. We also have secure exercise paddocks that you can use.

We can train you up in our kennels to be a great help to our staff

Help in our Cattery

We always need help in our catteries, from cat cuddling to socialising and cleaning. It’s a lovely place to be and you will be making a difference to our beautiful residents.

We also are in need of kitten carers, whose work ranges from socialising, to fostering a litter.

Help out in Doris’s Bunker

We are lucky to have an onsite Cafe, Doris’s Bunker. We are always looking for new volunteers to help out serving customers, baking and more. It’s a great way to meet new friends and a be part of the NCAR Volunteer family!

carry out Homechecks

A very important part of our rehoming process is carrying out home checks to ensure new potential homes and gardens are safe and secure for our animals.

We recruit volunteers to carry out these checks in your local area before the animal goes to their new home.

Work in our Charity shops

Our charity shops help fund the work we do at NCAR, so volunteering in one of our charity shops will make such a difference. You’ll also make new friends, be part of your local community and who knows what bargains you may find!

Help in our onsite laundry

As you can imagine laundry is a never ending task at NCAR. With the amount of animals we have onsite there is always laundry to be done. This is a great way to volunteer and you will get to meet many of the residents too!

Help with maintenance

We always need people to help with odd jobs around the rescue. This could be painting, gardening, plumbing, electrician, welding and more more. If you have a skill we are more than happy to welcome you on board.

If not don’t worry, we always need odd job people too, so there is something for everyone!

Lady Lurcher Garden

We welcome any assistance in our Lady Lurcher garden, whether it’s trimming flowers, mowing the lawn, clearing long grass, maintaining bushes, or painting fences. Any contribution is greatly appreciated.

Work in our Reception / office

A vital part of NCAR is our Reception and Office areas, answering the phone, emails and welcoming customers.

There are many other ways you can help in our office, with admin tasks or if you have skills such as accountancy please do tell us.

Our volunteers help us in so many different ways with the day to day running of the Rescue. We just couldn’t manage without them! Read about our Volunteer Programme here.

If you feel you can spare a few hours a week, some time at the weekend or even a couple of hours a month, we would love you to get involved.

our volunteers

We don’t receive any government funding, so we rely on donations and support from people like you to cover the costs of caring for homeless animals. and to help us care for them by volunteering. We want to assure you that we take your help and contributions seriously and spend the money responsibly.

Thank you for considering supporting our cause!
