A HUGE THANK YOU FROM DORIS’S BUNKER

Now that our doors are back open and Doris’s Bunker has had its little refresh, we wanted to take a moment to say a very special THANK YOU to everyone who has helped make our lovely café what it is today.

There are so many people who deserve our appreciation…

DBP – for our beautiful new windows, which were so kindly donated and have made such a difference to the Bunker.

Dulux Rhyl – for generously donating all the paint for our refurbishment and helping us give the café its lovely fresh new look.

Our amazing supporters – who purchased items from our Amazon Wishlist. Every single donation has helped add those finishing touches and make Doris’s Bunker feel warm, welcoming and homely again.

Our wonderful Doris’s Bunker volunteers – thank you for sticking with us, helping with the revamp and big clean-up, and most importantly, continuing to be such an important part of our Bunker family.

Our fabulous Doris’s Bunker staff team – thank you for your incredible support, dedication and the endless hours spent cleaning, tidying, organising and working behind the scenes to bring our beautiful café back to life. We really couldn’t have done it without you!

We hope you love the refreshed Doris’s Bunker as much as we do. We haven’t changed what makes it special – it still has all those lovely home comforts and its friendly atmosphere. It has simply had a fresh coat of paint, a good clean and a little bit of TLC

Meet the Bunker Team

You may notice a few new faces behind the counter!

We would love to welcome Suzie to the Doris’s Bunker team, alongside Julie, who many of you will already know and love, and Charlie, who helps us out at the weekends. We’ll also be welcoming another new member of the team very soon!

With new beginnings also come some goodbyes.

We have sadly said goodbye to Chris, who has moved on to a new venture. We would like to thank her for everything she has done for Doris’s Bunker over the years and wish her every happiness for the future. We’re sure we’ll still see her popping in to visit us from time to time! ????

We would also like to say a very special thank you to Paul, who was a long-standing volunteer at the Bunker and an absolutely fantastic help – especially when it came to tackling that never-ending washing up! You will certainly be missed, Paul, but we know it’s time for you to enjoy your retirement. Thank you for everything you have done for us.

More Than Just a Café…

Doris’s Bunker really is the heart of NCAR.

Every cup of coffee, slice of cake, bacon bap or lunch you enjoy with us makes a difference. Every penny of profit from your purchases goes directly towards supporting the animals in the care of North Clwyd Animal Rescue.

So when you visit us for a catch-up with friends, a cuppa or something tasty to eat, you’re also helping animals who desperately need our care.

But have you ever wondered why it’s called Doris’s Bunker?

Many of our customers may not know the beautiful story behind the name.

Doris was a very special lady who kindly remembered our charity by leaving NCAR a legacy. Her generosity helped make our café possible, and naming it Doris’s Bunker means her kindness and support continue to live on and make a difference to our animals every single day.

We’ve now included Doris’s story in our new menu, so next time you visit, please take a moment to read about her.

You’ll also find the story of Mike, another incredibly generous supporter who left NCAR a legacy which enabled us to build our conservatory.

Without people like Doris and Mike, we simply wouldn’t have the wonderful café we have today. Their legacies continue to give back year after year, and we will always be incredibly grateful.

And there’s lots more to come!

We’re really excited about the next few months at Doris’s Bunker, with some fantastic festive events planned. We’ll be sharing all the details very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
