My wife recently became a volunteer in Doris’s Bunker cafe at NCAR. I started to visit the cafe myself and as well as enjoying the lovely cakes and coffee, I started to think about volunteering myself.

There are numerous opportunities for volunteers at NCAR one of them being to help out in the grounds and garden and I decided this was the one for me.

Having worked in the NHS for 40 years I have witnessed first hand the essential help that volunteers of all ages can provide by the giving of their time as well as fund raising.

I have been a volunteer now for five months and it’s been really good for me and hopefully NCAR. Making a contribution towards the welfare of the animals even in a small way has been very rewarding. I can recommend volunteering at NCAR
