Volunteer Home Checkers

What's involved

We have vacancies in our team of adoption, home checker, voluntary staff.  We need to be sure that potential adopters have the facilities and time to provide a safe environment for pets adopted from our Rescue centre.

Applicants for a position with our team should have experience of owning a pet.

Hours are flexible and could include evenings and/or weekends.

The home checker makes an initial visit and reports back to the Rescue.  If adoption goes ahead another follow up visit is done to ensure that all is well and the pet is settling in.

Home checkers need to be able to relate well to others and discuss the needs of an adopted pet with care and courtesy.  The potential adopters are often anxious and keen to claim their new pet as soon as possible so home checks need to be done promptly after they have applied for adoption.  After the visit a report is submitted to NCAR staff who will then deal with the rest of the adoption process.
