Saturday 2nd July
It was kitten departure day today as Cuddles, Cous Cous, Oberyn and Khalisar all headed off to their new homes. We are all particulary pleased that Oberyn and Khalisar have been adopted, as these beautiful little kittens have a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia. A cat with CH often falls down and has trouble walking or cannot seem to walk at all. CH in cats is non-progressive, meaning it does not get worse with age.Cerebellar Hypoplasia occurs when the cerebellum, the part of the brain which controls fine motor skills and coordination, is not completely mature at birth. So these kittens were looking for a very special home and they have certainly found it with a vet nurse who already has two cats with the same disorder. This is a fantastic home for these two little wobbly kittens and we wish them a long and happy life in their new home.
We had a couple of dog reserves today, with both Adrian and Patch getting reserved. Both are older dogs and Patch only has 3 legs (which doesn’t slow him down) so it is fantastic to see both of these gorgeous dogs getting reserved.
The preparations for tomorrows dog show are almost complete – just a mad dash round to finish off in the morning! Fingers crossed that the weather is good for us and that lots of you turn up to support the rescue. I’ve just finished collecting all my plants together for the plant stall that Simon and I are doing. All proceeds from the stall goes directly back to the rescue so I hope you will all stop by and pick up something for your garden.
Don’t forget Richard and Adam will be with us tomorrow so make sure you get your photo taken with them and your dog. Make sure you only have a small breakfast so that you have plenty of room for our lovely BBQ and lots of fabulous cakes. Its going to be a fantastic, fun day and we are all looking forward to seeing you all there – the fun starts at 11am and continues until 3pm.
If you would like to be in tomorrows newsround, please stop by the plant stall to say hi so I can collect a few photos to feature on here tomorrow x
