Lady and Trent’s Happy Tails

We have 2 very happy adoption stories with incredible dogs from NCAR.

Our first was a wonderful 5 year old staffy boxer cross called Lady in December 2019. She was initially a stray and had puppies at the rescue (one we have since been told visits the rescue still, which is wonderful), she was rescued but due to illness she had to go back and she was struggling.

The second I saw her picture, I fell in love and it didn’t take much to convince my wife that we needed to go and visit her. On our visit we played in the paddock and she nearly ran through me and my wife to get the ball, but she was always gentle around my young daughter and that cemented her as the perfect dog!!

She came home 2 days before Christmas and immediately slept, played, ate, ate, ate, begged for food and slept. She was so happy and content and loved chasing balls and having a shower and a bath. She thought she was a lapdog and had the attitude “if I fit I sit” and she was always squeezing herself in any space for a cuddle.

She quickly became an anxiety dog. When I ever struggled with my mental health, she was there with her head in my hand or on my lap and it was impossible to be sad with her around.

She was very much a lazy house dog, she would get excited for a walk, but after an hour walk, she wouldn’t want to go on another for a week and just loved her blanket and cuddles.

We had nearly 5 amazing years with her her back legs and hip couldn’t hold her so we can to say goodbye. This left a monumental hole in our lives and left the house feeling so empty.

In October 2023 we decided we needed another dog to fill the hole in our lives. We were initially looking at Enzo, but after discussing with the rescue we were directed to Trent a 4/5 year old staffy. He was a lovely dog, completely different to Lady but still a loving wonderful dog.

We were told his story, he came in as a stray with almost no fur and then had 2 failed rescues, after this we knew we had to give him, his forever home. Within 10 minutes of him being home with us, he was cuddled up with my 10 year old daughter with the smile only a staffy can give.

He loves to play with his toys and destroys everything he is given as his way of playing. He loves food, oh boy does he love food, we have spent a long time trying to calm him around food, but there is no calming that. He is so soft and gentle and loves to cuddle like a teddy bear and fitted in to our family perfectly.

Thank you NCAR for helping us to find the perfect match for our family twice!!
