We got Jacque (formerly known as Buster Rhymes) in September 2022 from NCAR. We had a few visits with him where we could see the beginnings of a very cheeky personality, but boy oh boy were we in for a few surprises!

The first thing we discovered is that he loves to cover himself in blankets and duvets. If ever we can’t find him, we just call his name and look for the pile of sentient blankets moving about!

Now that the weather is warming up, he loves to lie in a patch of sun or even go out sunbathing on the deck.

He also made it clear very early on that he’s clever and is keen to learn most things as long as you’ve got some snacks to offer. However, he also knows his own mind and knows which tricks he has no interest in learning (“lie down” and “paw” come to mind!)

He has found his voice and let us know when he’s feeling sassy with some little songs, or more often that he’s feeling happy with some little piglet snorts and play sneezes!

He loves helping his mom in the garden, and thoroughly investigates every single plant growing there. His favorites to sniff are the lemon thyme, lemon balm, tomato, oregano, and mint. He is a regular in the neighborhood twilight bark, although he is still learning to not get carried away!

He also loves terrorizing his Giraffe rope toy (we are on giraffe #4 in 8 months) and he loves his daily play time (followed by snuggle time) with his dad. He is a regular at Zoomies Zone for some off-lead fun and sniffs, and can successfully navigate the agility course, although he prefers to do his own exploring.

Jacque has been such a joy in our lives since the minute we met him at NCAR. There are still plenty of moments where he challenges us, and he is working really hard to learn to trust other people (like the vet!) But all in all he is a very happy and settled boy, and we wouldn’t change him for the world. Thank you NCAR for finding the perfect little addition to our family!
