North Clwyd Equine Rescue and Hafod Arena
About North Clwyd Equine Rescue

When Doris Maud Wells-Kendrew (Dee to her friends) passed away, she left her estate to North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR).
Dee had never visited NCAR or been involved in the rescue however, she trusted that her estate would be used to improve the lives of animals, so that is exactly what we have done.
Dee loved all animals and she especially loved horses but the estate was in a state of decline.
It had so much potential to bring it back to a working indoor riding arena and grazing suitable for horses, ponies and donkeys, so NCAR invested much time and money into the estate, reinstating the car park, putting in much needed drainage, and totally refurbishing and extending the existing indoor arena.
The creation of North Clwyd Equine Rescue and Hafod Arena
From this, North Clwyd Equine Rescue and Hafod Arena were born. NCER is the rescue side of our equestrian offering and can now house up to twenty rescue horses, ponies or donkeys.
NORTH CLWYD EQUINE RESCUE

The grazing for our rescues has been completely re-fenced and made secure, the horses and ponies now have options of herd based groups, pairs or individual grazing depending on their needs and personalities.
Our aim is to rehome as many horses and ponies as possible so that we can continue to help those that need us.
We offer a “home from home” scheme where we try to find appropriate new homes for horses and ponies who’s owners can no longer keep them, pairing them directly with a new home without having to come into the rescue centre.

We can also offer free advice and guidance for anyone considering giving up their equine friend, and or signpost them to the right services.
Hafod Arena
Hafod Arena is our fantastic purpose built indoor arena which is available for hire and helps to fund our horse and pony rescue work. All income from the hire of the arena and facilities helps to rescue equines in need of a new home.
