Pablo is a nice boy who came into our care as a stray. His owners know that he is here but were not in a position to take him back, so he’s looking for a new home dedicated to training. Pablo is a very sweet natured, friendly and loving boy when he knows you and does enjoy attention and cuddles.

Pablo loves being out and about on walks and especially loves muddy puddles! He is lovely to walk and will pull initially but does calm fairly quickly. He does have some issues around becoming over-stimulated and mouthy when over excited so we feel he will massively benefit from a calm, quiet home with no children where boundaries will be put in place and stuck to.

We have introduced him to lots of dogs during his stay with us so far and he has been friendly with all of them, he has been mixed off the lead with a couple of dogs too which he did well with however it did cause him to get over-excited and mouthy with the people around him. He may benefit from a home as the only pet so that it is nice and calm for him.

In kennels he has shown issues around cleaning equipment like brushes, squeegees, mops, shovels, watering can and the hosepipe – he gets fixated on them and will grab them and destroy them and gets stressed when he see’s them, he is improving in this area and can now be distracted when he is on lead and we have been teaching him a ‘leave’ command. It is much easier when he is on the lead, so management will be needed in this area in his next home – we appreciate this is an odd issue to work on but our behaviour team will be on hand to advise on this and we will continue working on this with him during his stay with us. We are unsure if he has had bad experiences with brushes etc and this is why, but with management and boundaries put into place this should be fairly easy to manage.

He sadly does not do well in kennels and has been very stressed at times – he is slightly better now he has been moved into another section and is getting out and about a bit more with staff and volunteers but we’d love to see him settled and happy in a home soon.

He really does have so much potential in the right home and with the correct boundaries, training, management and positive education.
