Dutch is an absolutely stunning boy who came into us as a stray after being tied up and abandoned.
Unfortunately he was in really poor body condition when he came into us, he was extremely underweight and understandably quite weak. Thankfully he has had no trouble putting some weight on after being given regular meals and has now started to look much better, he still has a long journey ahead of him though.

He does have quite a sensitive tummy at the moment so it is important that his current diet is maintained until that settles. His exercise levels will need to be built up gradually as he does have quite a bit of muscle wastage as a result of being so thin but once he is back to full condition he will require regular exercise to keep him satisfied. He is a clever boy and will also benefit from plenty of mental stimulation to tire his brain out!

He is a very sweet boy who loves his friends SO much! He has been a little wary of some men but he is easily won around and we have already started working on his socialisation and confidence building. He has been going out on short walks with some of our volunteers and has already gained a small fan club! You can’t not love him.

We have introduced him to a variety of different dogs during his stay so far and we have not seen any negative reactions at all. He can just be a bit full on for some dogs. We feel that he is quite unexperienced when it comes to interacting with other dogs, but he remains positive so he is looking for a home with someone that will continue to socialise him out and about and help him to gain confidence and manners. We do think that Dutch has the potential to live with a compatible dog after the introductions have been done here at the rescue but management around food may be needed due to his background.

Dutch is looking for a home where he isn’t going to be left for long periods as we feel he may suffer with some separation anxiety, we will advise any potential owners on this and make sure he is set up to succeed! We also feel that he is best suited to a home with older children 14+ as he is a very bouncy boy at times.

We really hope that he finds his forever home soon as he has lots of potential and deserves to experience how good life can be.
