Butch is a stunning boy looking for a second chance! He came into our care due to his owner not being able to handle him. He is a big, strong lad who needs a bit of lead training. We have started this here at the rescue but would need continued training in the home.

He can be anxious at times as he clearly hadn’t had much socialisation prior to coming into our care – he has already come on leaps and bounds and we are sure with the right guidance, patience and love, he has full capability to grow in confidence and become a loyal companion.

While Butch can be boisterous at times, he is such a lovely affectionate boy! He will thrive in a home with older teenagers who can handle his energy. He is a strong boy who requires proper training and management, but the effort will be worth it when you see him flourish.

We have been working on his socialisation with other dogs and he is doing amazing. He can be quite full on with some dogs but has been friendly with all of the dogs we have introduced him too so far and has played well off lead too. He definitely has potential to live with another compatible dog with correct introductions and if mixes go well here at the rescue!

Due to the upcoming ban we are obviously very keen to get him into a loving, understanding home but anyone interested must be 100% committed to him and his ongoing training and socialisation. Due to the ban, rescues cannot rehome any XL Bullys after the 31st of December so if any potential home didn’t work out then he will never be able to be rehomed again, so it really is vital that we get it right for him.

Bully breed experience is definitely preferred but not essential, but any potential owners need to do some research on the breed and the upcoming ban and the conditions they will have to adhere to. We will cover his exemption fee and have already started muzzle training him in preparation. We can offer full guidance on the ban and the conditions and will be here to support his new owners.

Overall he is a favourite here at NCAR with both staff and volunteers and we’d really love to see him settled in a home soon.
